Written Assignment for the LehrerDance Residency and Performance:

Due Friday, March 26

Dancers, please type and double space a reflective essay on the LehrerDance Residency and Performance. Please write in a standard essay format as you would for an English class. Do not list the questions posted below - they are target points to help guide you in your reflection.

Ideas for reflection on the week of classes:
~ How did the LehrerDance Residency make a difference in your life or your dancing?
~ What was the most significant part of the week for you and why?
~ What was something new you learned about movement?
~ Did you feel that our classes in BCD prepared you for this residency?
~ Did you feel that the teachers challenged you and pushed you to a new level?
~ What did you like about the Lehrer Technique?
~ What is the one thing that will stand out in your memory from classes this week?

Ideas for reflection on the LehrerDance Performance:
~ Overall opinion of the concert from beginning to end.
~ How did the performance affect you? How did it make you feel about dance, professional dancers, choreographers, directors?
~ Choose one dance to thoroughly discuss. What did you like about it? What made it memorable? What choreographic devices did you see that made the piece interesting? Did you recognize the specific traits of Lehrer Technique in their movement and performance?
~ Discuss each of the dances on a more general basis explaining what you liked overall and touching on each of the points listed in the above bullet point.
~ Be sure to end with a concluding paragraph summing everything up.

ADVANCED DANCE GROUP CHOREOGRAPHY PROJECT
(you'll still need to do an individual project, too)

I will be sending each of you an email with the music for a class choreography project that everyone will take part in. Start listening to the music so that you can come to class next Thursday (Feb. 18) prepared to start moving and gathering your ideas. Take notes on your ideas, begin moving on your own to get an idea of what the movement should feel like and look like. Each and every one of you are responsible for having written notes and a 30-second movement phrase or 16 counts of movement for Feb. 18.  _________________________________________________________________

Interested in doing a solo for the semester project?

I need to see your ideas on or by Friday, March 5.

Dance Terminology click here

All dancers are responsible for knowing these terms (both spelling and definition). As time goes by I may separate class level, but for now we're all going to be responsible for the same terms.
